I don’t have any tips, but I would love to know how to control spider mites on our indoor and outdoor plants without using harsh pesticides.

Slugs! I save my egg shells all winter. The slugs love my hosta plants and will strip the leaves clean in a short time! I dry the egg shells, crush them and spread them about the hosta’s. Any I have left over is spread in the rest of the flower beds. It will take care of the slugs! The underside of any soft body bug is sliced, they die and dry up. The bonus is that egg shells are good for the plants and soil enriching it with calcium!

Because of the expense of having an in ground sprinkler system installed, we decided to go with soaker hoses. We found some that are made from recycled tires. They were really easy to install around our existing landscaping, and we are told that they use a lot less water than a lawn sprinkler.

Here is a tip! My husband and I thought a few of our solar garden lights were done. We checked the batteries and they were fine. It turned out the solar collector area on them needed a good cleaning. We thought the rain would take care of that!
