Give Us Your Thoughts About Electric Vehicles and Hybrids

Are the high fuel prices making you wish you owned an electric vehicle or hybrid?  We want to hear  from current owners of an electric vehicle / hybrid – and from consumers / businesses thinking about purchasing one of these vehicles in the near future.

I want an EV when we trade next time – it is not only the fuel savings, but they say they are low cost to maintain – no oil changes, etc.
We are a couple of years before we trade – hopefully they come down in price

I own a Trikke Pon-e, which is an electric carving vehicle, that you stand on, and can fold up for transport. Andy at Southbay Trikke (where i bought it) has really taken care of me. It travels about 17 mph top speed, and on one battery on the model I have (the 48V) I can go for about an hour and a half of straight riding before it needs a recharge (costing me only pennies). Because it rarely rains in LA, I can ride my Trikke most of the time to do simple errands, get the mail, and pick up light groceries (I got Andy’s cargo net accessory)etc. But when I hit the beach bike path on weekends, everyone looks at me, because it’s like I am riding an electric skiing vehicle that looks like a lot of fun, and it is. People on Segways ask me where I got it when I blow by them as I carve back and forth through their two-wheeled slow turning walking machines on my electric surfboard/ski like machine. Unlike a Segway and the movie where everyone in the future gets fat and rides in electric wheelchairs, my Trikke allows me to carve, and get a workout of my arms, core, abs, legs and many of the bodys muscles. If you could build a mobile roller coaster on 3-wheels, you would have a Trikke. Go see Andy, he set it up, fixed what wrong, and has made me (a tough customer to please) appreciate his excellent service, and the many accessories that only Southbay Trikke in Torrance has. I love my electric Trikke.
