on April 29th, 2011 at 9:04 amWe are looking into a solar system that will provide us with hot water, lower our hydro bills and hopefully heat our pool.
Also looking into landscaping ideas that will be low maintenance and use very little water.
Good quality windows and doors are also on the list.

on May 16th, 2011 at 2:35 pmTrying to decide between cork or bamboo floors. We would also like to heat & cool with geothermal if budget allows. We are definitely going to spend extra on insulation and good quality windows when we build next year.

on May 16th, 2011 at 8:59 pmWe just did a major renovation a few years ago and the biggest things we did was a new energy efficient gas furnace, new windows and we insulated our crawlspace with the foam insulation. We are on the budget for the gas bill and after the furnace and windows were put in the bills dropped by about $40 per month. After the insulation was done, the budget went down to almost half of what it was before the renovations.
